Norman’s and Lauringson’s works in Arhangelsk

At the initiative of the European Commission, the European Day was celebrated on 20.-21.06.2008 in Arhangelsk. Among the program Night of the Arts two films from Estonia were shown: Kristina Norman’s nearly an hour-long documentary video "Pribalts" (2006) and Andrus Lauringson’s short video piece "Casino" (2007).Approximately 1500 people visited the event. “The organizers were quite surprised to see that people stayed in the black box and watched Norman’s lengthy film”, commented Kairi Leivo from the Estonian embassy in Moscow.

 

The European Day in Arhangelsk was celebrated with seminars, theatre shows, concerts, etc. The Night of the Arts focused on contemporary art from Europe. The decisions, which works will represent Estonia, were made at Centre for Contemporary Arts, Estonia.
