ESTONIA’S EXPOSITION AT THE 50TH INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION – LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA

“Sogni e Conflitti. La dittatura dello spettatore” / “Dreams and Conflicts. The Viewer’s dictatorship”

14. 06. - 2. 11. 2003

Estonia’s exhibition was entitled MARKO UND KAIDO by JOHN SMITH (Marko Mäetamm and Kaido Ole). Commissioner of the project was Sirje Helme (Center For Contemporary Arts, Estonia), curator Anders Härm (Tallinn Art Hall) and location Palazzo Malipiero, S. Marco 3079, Venice. Nearly 20 000 people visited the show.

In addition to the project of John Smith, the work by Estonian artist Jaan Toomik, "Peeter and Mart" (video, 2001) was presented on the exhibition curated by Francesco Bonami at Arsenale exhibition space.

triennial of photographic art. Settled venues: Stadtgalerie Kiel (April/May 2003; opening April 11), Mecklenburgisches Künstlerhaus Schloss Plüshow (June-July 2003), Kunsthall Bergen (October-November 2003).

Project director: Dorothee Bienert (Berlin); curators: D. Bienert, Lars Grambye (Copenhagen), Lolita Jablonskiene (Vilnius).

Estonian participant was Eve Kask with her series of inhabitants of Käsmu fishermen's village.
